General Info

Behaviour
We encourage a very high standard of behaviour at all times. Politeness and consideration for others is emphasised at all times.

Home/Nursery Relationship
We feel that a relationship between home and nursery is very important and essential if each child is to feel secure and progress fully. Please feel free to speak to a member of staff at any time about your child’s progress.

Special Events
Throughout the year special events and outings are organised, permission from a parent/guardian is always obtained before each event.

Progress Reports
We encourage each parent/carer to talk with their child’s key person regarding their child’s development on a regular basis, to ensure all information is shared and communication is a two way process. We invite parents/carers to take home their child’s Learning Journey Book at least once a term and spend time looking through at evidence of their child’s development, observations, photos and creative masterpieces!

Equal Opportunities
All of our staff receive equal opportunities training and are happy to consider individual, religious/cultural requirements. We endeavor to meet the wishes of all our families with equal merit and always seek to provide equality of opportunity at all times. Our ENCo (Equality Named Co-ordinator) is responsible for ensuring that all children from all backgrounds in our nursery are fully included and supported

Full Disabled Access
Our nursery has been special designed to be fully accessible by the disabled. We have wheelchair ramps at the front and rear of the building and a passenger lift inside.

Health
If your child has an illness which prevents attendance at nursery for any length of time we ask that you inform us in order that their place should not be offered to a child on our waiting list.

Should your child contract a contagious disease please notify the nursery as soon as possible. A copy of conditions requiring periods of exclusion from the nursery is available upon request. Should your child become ill during the nursery day you will be notified and if deemed necessary asked to collect your child. In the event of an accident or illness requiring immediate medical treatment the nursery is responsible for obtaining such attention and treatment for the child. Parents are promptly notified and where necessary the child’s own doctor.

Medication
If your child is receiving medication which requires administering during nursery hours you will be requested to give authorisation. Our staff are experienced in administering many medications including those given to asthmatics.

Accidents
All accidents are registered in our Accident Register and parents/guardians are made fully aware of any bumps, bruises etc, the circumstances surrounding an injury, together with treatment given by our staff, who all hold first aid certificates.

Dress
All children should come to nursery in comfortable clothes which are suitable for physical and creative activities that they will encounter through the day. Clothing should be easy for your child to pull on and off to aid greater independence. We have introduced a nursery uniform for all children, this includes a polo shirt and/or sweatshirt, plain red with the nursery logo in white.

This is not compulsory but we would like to include all children, so we are offering this to all families. We are hoping that this will further make the children feel like a team and also eliminate your children’s clothes getting ruined during art activities etc. So no more having to choose what your child wears in the morning, saving you valuable time! Prices and ordering is available at reception.

Toilet Training
Parents are asked to notify the nursery when they begin toilet training their child. Staff are happy to give individual children every assistance.

Inspections
The nursery is regularly inspected and licensed by Ofsted. Copies of recent reports, of which we are very proud, are available at local libraries and from the nursery upon request.

Funding
The nursery accepts government funding for eligible children and all valid childcare vouchers. For further details on funding please contact the nursery on 01268 685435.

Key Person
When your child starts nursery they will be allocated a Key Person. A Key Person is someone who helps your baby or child to become familiar with their early years setting and to feel confident and safe within it. They will develop a bond with your child and offer a settled, close relationship. This member of staff you can speak to about their progress and their learning Journeys and anything else nursery related.
