Staff

Principal – Deborah Battams
Deborah has been working at Little Tewkes since 1995. She started as a nursery nurse and worked her way up “the ladder” and eventually took over the nursery in 2000 from Amelia Blackwell. Deborah has training in sign language, makaton, first aid, food hygiene, child protection certificate, special education needs certificate, business success for child care, and she is an in house assessor and is a registered member of Ofsted and also has a Diploma in Pre-School Early Years. Deborah lives on Canvey Island and is a mother of 2. Deborah is Designated Safeguarding Officer.

Staff Manager - Ruth Peters
Ruth has a Diploma in Pre-School Early Years, food hygiene, first aid, child protection certificate. Ruth has been working at Little Tewkes Nursery for 17 years starting off as a nursery assistant and worked her way up to become a Staff Manager. Ruth has previously worked in primary schools on Canvey Island. Ruth has 4 children. Ruth is Designated Safeguarding Officer and Work Experience co-ordinator.

Deputy Manager – Amie Houghton
Amie has worked at Little Tewkes Nursery for 11 years, working her way up from Room Manager to Deputy Manager. Amie is our SENCo, responsible for any extra provision for children with special educational needs; she also has First Aid and Recruiting Safely. Amie became a mum in 2010, and now has 2 children.

Red Room Manager – Leanne McFall
Leanne has worked at Little Tewkes Nursery for 4 years starting as a Nursery Practitioner; we were impressed with her way of work that she became Room Manager shortly after. Leanne has her NVQ 3 in childcare, and is also trained in First Aid and Safeguarding. Leanne has worked in 2 previous nursery settings since being qualified.

Green Room Manager – Samantha Page
Sam has worked at little Tewkes for 12 years, working her way up from Nursery Practitioner. Sam also holds her food hygiene.

White Room Manager – Nicole Simmons
Nicole has worked at little Tewkes Nursery for 10 years, working her way up from Nursery Practitioner to Room Manager. Nicole has her NVQ level 3 in childcare. She is our Citizenship co-ordinator. Nicole came to us on a student placement and we were so impressed we offered her full time employment.

Yellow Room Manager – Lauren Davidson
Lauren has worked at little Tewkes Nursery for 10 years, and has recently become the Room Manager for Yellow Room after working alongside Nicole in the White Room. Lauren has her BTEC National Diploma in childcare. She is our Citizenship co-ordinator and ENCo. Lauren came to us on a student placement and we were so impressed we offered her full time employment.
